The international jury of the Bigtwin Bikeshow 2026 is welcoming a new member from Italy. Francesco ‘Crazyoils’ Mattioli, founder and owner of the custom motorcycle workshop Crazyoils near Milan, will be joining the judging panel this year. With over fifteen years of experience as a custom bike builder and an impressive track record as an international judge, he knows exactly what to look for when evaluating a custom motorcycle.

Francesco founded Crazyoils in 2009 and has been building custom Harley-Davidsons ever since, ranging from classic V-twins to modern models. Working alone in his workshop near Milan, he handles everything himself, from complete custom builds and engine tuning to metal fabrication and tailor-made mechanical solutions. For Francesco, it’s not just about looks. Engineering, functionality and craftsmanship are just as important.

Besides building bikes, Francesco has been judging international custom bike shows for more than a decade. He served as head judge at Rombo di Tuono, the Italian Custom Championship, for many years and has judged motorcycles at the US National Championship in Cleveland and the Emirates Custom Championship in Dubai. He has also been part of judging panels at major custom events in Spain and across Europe.

His expertise has also been recognised by the International Master Bike Builders Association (IMBBA), where he is certified as a Master Bike Builder and International Bike Judge.

More Than Just a Good-Looking Bike

When judging custom motorcycles, Francesco looks beyond appearance. Engineering, rideability, construction, design, stance and finishing details all play an important role. From neatly routed wiring to the overall balance of a build, every detail counts.

He also has great respect for the time, creativity and craftsmanship that builders put into their machines. After all, every custom bike tells its own story.

“As a judge, my goal is to evaluate every project with technical accuracy, complete objectivity and a genuine passion for custom culture,” says Francesco.

He is looking forward to meeting Dutch and international builders at the Bigtwin Bikeshow 2026 and seeing their creations up close.

From November 6 to 8, Francesco will be at the Bigtwin Bikeshow & Expo at Expo Houten in the Netherlands, where he will join the other jury members in judging this year’s custom bike entries.

De internationale jury van de Bigtwin Bikeshow 2026 krijgt versterking uit Italië. Francesco ‘Crazyoils’ Mattioli, oprichter en eigenaar van customwerkplaats Crazyoils nabij Milaan, neemt dit jaar plaats aan de jurytafel. Met ruim vijftien jaar ervaring als custombouwer en een indrukwekkend aantal internationale juryklussen op zijn naam, weet hij als geen ander waar hij op moet letten bij het beoordelen van een custombike.

Francesco richtte Crazyoils in 2009 op en bouwt sindsdien custom Harley-Davidsons, van klassieke V-twins tot moderne modellen. In zijn werkplaats nabij Milaan doet hij alles zelf. Van complete custom builds en motortuning tot metaalbewerking en technische oplossingen op maat. Daarbij draait het niet alleen om het uiterlijk, maar minstens zo veel om de techniek, functionaliteit en afwerking.

Naast zijn werk als bouwer is Francesco al meer dan tien jaar actief als jurylid bij internationale customshows. Zo was hij jarenlang hoofdjurylid bij Rombo di Tuono, het Italiaanse Custom Championship, en beoordeelde hij motoren tijdens het US National Championship in Cleveland en het Emirates Custom Championship in Dubai. Ook bij verschillende grote customshows in Spanje en andere Europese landen maakte hij deel uit van de jury.

Meer dan alleen een mooie motor

Bij het beoordelen van custommotoren kijkt Francesco verder dan alleen het uiterlijk. Techniek, rijbaarheid, constructie, lijnenspel en afwerking spelen allemaal een belangrijke rol. Van strak weggewerkte bedrading tot de balans van het totale ontwerp: voor hem moet het complete plaatje kloppen.

Daarbij heeft hij veel respect voor de tijd, creativiteit en het vakmanschap die bouwers in hun motor steken. Iedere custombike vertelt immers zijn eigen verhaal.

‘Als jurylid is het mijn doel om elk project te beoordelen met technische nauwkeurigheid, volledige objectiviteit en passie voor de custom-cultuur,’ aldus Francesco.

Hij kijkt ernaar uit om tijdens de Bigtwin Bikeshow 2026 de Nederlandse en internationale bouwers te ontmoeten en hun creaties van dichtbij te bekijken.

Van 6 tot en met 8 november is Francesco te vinden op de Bigtwin Bikeshow & Expo in Expo Houten, waar hij samen met de overige juryleden de deelnemende custommotoren zal beoordelen.
